Changes are afoot!

John Maxwell once said “Change is inevitable, growth is optional”.

The first two months of the year have signified change here at Asset Training - change of ownership, change of direction and change in the office, and boy, have we grown!

Our courses have grown. Our first course of the year, Certificate II in Security Operations rolled out a self-paced model of learning, with three weeks in the classroom and three weeks self-paced. This allows students to complete theory in their own time while offering the advantage of practical assessments and scenarios.

Our training scope has grown. We’ve introduced de-escalation training, as a stand-alone training workshop and within our courses. Led by renowned trainer Andrew Viney, de-escalation training provides contemporary and literal tips and examples for building rapport and a sense of connection to diffuse conflict. We all need and often employ de-escalation techniques in a variety of areas throughout our lives (sometimes without realising!) – in the workplace, home environment, sporting events, and social situations, so this training has application in a broad range of settings!

Our social awareness has grown. We’ve added diversity and inclusion training to ensure current social issues are discussed and a diversity seed is sown into the minds of our trainees. All training is relevant to their particular field, and assists in preparing them for situations and challenges they may face in their industry work.

Our appreciation for the environment has grown. We’ve implemented a number of environmentally friendly changes, including the purchase of a three-compartment bin for organic, recyclables and general waste, the implementation of a re-fillable water filter and dispenser, the purchase of ‘Who Gives a Crap’ toilet paper (a company who uses 50% of all profits to build toilets in developing countries) and pre-planning for moving towards a paperless office.

I’d say we’ve grown quite a lot in the last few months!
